Hardy's weighing instruments for cement mixer trucks help determine when an on-location mixer truck is empty, so that the fleet manager can use this information to maintain a more efficient fleet. One major problem in cement transportation is the inability to accurately monitor when a truck is empty and has completed a job. Hardy’s solution provides management with the ability to weigh the drum and read the hydraulic pressure of the drum motor, knowing exactly when a drum is empty and ready to be reloaded for the next job. Computers mounted in the truck cabs send the weight and pressure information directly to management, without any driver intervention. The weight measurement is taken by weighing one end of the rotating drum and can happen while the truck is running, on uneven ground, and the drum turning. There is no downtime or delay, and no driver training is necessary.
